The Department of Sanskrit, one of the largest in the College, obtained Honours affiliation in 1963 under Calcutta University and started its Day Section. The department is renowned for the quality of its students and faculty. It has long since been devoted to providing quality education and of late it has proliferated into frontier Research as well. Department of Sanskrit of the College enriched with the promising faculties and energetic students and Staff. As a result again department of Sanskrit has been granted the permission to undertake Ph.D. Scholars under Midnapore College Research Centre in Humanities and Social Sciences.
