Midnapore College has introduced the Honours Course in Sociology from 2005 under the Self Financing Scheme. It was felt necessary to introduce this subject in the face of growing expectation from the emerging demand of the Sociological knowledge in the non-governmental institutions, governmental social survey and research programmes, Social Service related agencies etc. In response to the aspirations of the Social Science Students, the College took the initiative to impart Sociological teaching as the specialized branch to facilitate and empower them with the Specialized knowledge of their surroundings and thus to contribute in social advancement and also face the present job market more confidently.
