Department of Electronics started from the Academic session 2006-2007 with Electronics Honours only. The College authority and the Vidyasagar University noted with attention that on completion of the graduation degree majority of the students of this stream got services in the metrological and also in the Defence Department of the Country. So the University launched a plan to introduce Honours course in this subject to achieve better prospect for the students and ultimately it turned to reality in 2006. The Department of Electronics of Midnapore College (Autonomous) became the first College in Paschim Medinipur to start Honours course in Electronics.
